August 13, 2012 — Shanghai, China: Shoppers exit the Louis Vuitton flagship store at Plaza 66 luxury shopping mall on West Nanjing Road. According to a 2010 Bain & Company study, luxury goods purchases in China and by Chinese consumers reached a total of 212 billion RMB in 2010 ($34.59 million USD). Luxury purchases grew by 27 percent in Mainland China in 2010 and by 45 percent in Hong Kong and Macau. Chinese luxury purchases abroad grew by 38 percent.
